Constructed Landscapes, Silver Gelatin Print, 11 x14 inches

In Pacifica, California, I lived through a prolonged drought which provoked disparate creative responses

to the garden. The lack of water meant fewer colorful blooms, removal of the water-hungry grass and

fanciful juxtapositions. With my OM 1 35mm camera, I captured prints of flowers scattered in my garden

and on the sand of a nearby beach. I handpainted the images directly on the darkroom printed silver

prints, as reminder of our lost summer blooms and the stark reality of environmental change.
